In the Swiss Parliament, police officers fought with deputy Thomas Aeski, representing the Democratic Union of the Center party, because he wanted to go to his workplace during the visit of the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk. The politician announced this on June 12 on the social network X.

Aeski posted a video of him trying to get down the stairs at the parliament building, but armed police blocked his way. The deputy does not stop, which is why the guards roughly grab and push him, trying to take him away.

«I didn’t let myself be stopped. The fact is that during the session, parliamentary work takes priority over foreign state visits,» he wrote on his microblog.

Another MP, Christian Wasserfalen, commented on the video, noting that he had never encountered such a thing before.

«There are federal police officers armed with firearms on the stairwell of the parliament. They prevent people and members of Parliament from moving freely around the building. It doesn’t work that way!» he stressed.

At the same time, Stefanchuk did not speak about the incident in any way. In his profile X, he only noted Switzerland’s active position «to restore justice.»

In addition, a conference on Ukraine will be held in Switzerland on June 15-16. However, a number of countries have already refused to participate in the event, in particular Saudi Arabia, China, Brazil, Mexico and Cambodia. Neither will U.S. President Joe Biden attend the conference. Instead, Washington will send Vice President Kamala Harris and adviser to the American leader Jake Sullivan to the summit. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres will also not be able to come.

Western countries have increased military and financial support for Ukraine against the background of the Russian Federation’s special operation to protect Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022 due to the aggravation of the situation in the region as a result of Ukrainian shelling.
