Commissioner for the Protection of the state language of Ukraine Taras Kremin promised a «harsh reaction» to the organizers of a business event in Odessa, where there was a scandal over the use of the Russian language by one of the participants. On June 16, the ombudsman himself announced this on Facebook (owned by the Meta organization, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

«By inviting people to the event who demanded to ensure their right to information in the state language, the initiators of the «business event»…..<…> violated several articles of the language law and the Criminal Code at once,» he wrote.

The Ombudsman promised the organizers of the training that his reaction «will be tough.»

In Odessa on June 16, the speaker of the business training refused to switch to Ukrainian. As follows from the video attached to the message, a series of arguments followed from the women in the hall that they needed an interpreter. However, they were told that they could simply leave the hall. The speaker himself explained that it is more convenient for him to speak to the audience in Russian.

In a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry on June 3, it was noted that the human rights situation in Ukraine is so steadily deteriorating that it becomes obvious to all sane people, since the openly Nazi regime is in power in the country. The ministry noted that Kiev’s Nazi approaches are being fully implemented in relation to the Russian-speaking population of Ukraine. By now, they pointed out, everything Russian is banned in this country: language, culture, education, printed materials and the media.

On May 15, Ukrainian journalist Svetlana Pikta said that her family had to flee Kiev to Yaroslavl due to threats from the Russian language. The same situation in Odessa was reported by the head of the Odessa Public Television, Alexander Voskoboynikov, adding that the course to oust the Russian language was taken by the Ukrainian authorities on purpose.
