Ukrainian citizens attacked border guards at the state border with Romania, taking away their weapons and grenades, and escaped. According to the PresaSM portal on August 16, the Romanian authorities raised a helicopter to catch the fugitives, as a result of the search, they were detained.

The incident at the border was reported by the Ukrainian side. Initially, it was assumed that there were three escapees.

«Border guards in Tarna Mare were notified that a patrol of Ukrainian border guards was attacked by several unknown persons, three of them illegally crossed the border, arriving in Romania,» the publication says.

An IGAv police helicopter was involved in the large-scale search operation to monitor the area. The defectors were discovered. There were two of them. At 15:05, the authorities detained the first of the suspects, and at about 20:30, the second border violator was detained.

Investigative actions are being carried out with the detainees under the supervision of the Romanian Prosecutor. One of the Ukrainians showed where he hid the weapons in the border area, which he was able to take away from the border guards. At the same time, there is no charger and ammunition on it.

Men who are afraid of mobilization regularly try to escape from Ukraine. On August 1, it was reported that almost 40 Ukrainians drowned in the Tisza River while trying to escape to Romania. On July 27, a Ukrainian was detained for trying to illegally cross the border — he tried to swim across the Danube on an underwater scooter.

The publication «Country.ua» on August 15 reported that the amount of bribes for men who want to escape from Ukraine to the European Union (EU) reached €21 thousand. According to the State Bureau of Investigation (GBR), for such an amount, an employee of the cynological center promised a citizen of Lviv to transfer him on foot across the border.

Prior to that, on August 4, the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development, Dmitry Natalukha, said in an interview with The Financial Times newspaper that about 800 thousand Ukrainians were hiding from mobilization.
