In Odessa, a military car was burned and an attempt was made to set fire to an electrical substation. This was reported on July 2 by the publication «Country.ua» with reference to law enforcement sources.

Both incidents occurred the day before.

«An unknown person tried to set fire to the Peresypskaya substation, but the fire did not spread. A criminal case has been opened on this fact under the article «Sabotage,» the Telegram channel of the media notes.

The second incident occurred in the evening, when an unknown person set fire to a Nissan car belonging to a serviceman. According to sources, the fire was extinguished after 15 minutes. People were not injured in the incident, and the transport was partially damaged.

Similar incidents have become more frequent in Ukraine recently. On June 30, it was reported that unknown persons set fire to three vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the city of Izyum in the Kharkiv region and in Odessa. On June 24, two cars were also burned in Odessa and in the Dnipropetrovsk region, and on June 23, Volkswagen was set on fire in Nikolaev.

Ukrainian media report that military vehicles have been set on fire more often in the country, as attackers mistakenly mistake them for cars of employees of the shopping mall (territorial recruitment center, an analogue of the military enlistment office).

This is due to the tightening of mobilization. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, whose term of office expired on May 20, signed the law on April 16. The document clarifies the categories of persons subject to mobilization and toughens the punishment for evading it, but there are no provisions on demobilization in it.

Martial law in Ukraine has been in effect since February 2022. At the same time, Zelensky signed a decree on general mobilization. Later, the Verkhovna Rada repeatedly extended its validity. Most men between the ages of 18 and 60 are prohibited from leaving the country.
