The Supreme Court of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) sentenced Alexander Svinarchuk, commander of the engineering and technical company of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), to life imprisonment, who ordered the killing of civilians. This was reported on the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation on May 30.

It is clarified that the 29-year-old man was found guilty under Part 3 of Article 30, paragraphs «a», «g», «l» of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation («Attempted murder of two or more persons committed by an organized group, motivated by political and ideological hatred»), pp. «g», «l» Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation («Murder committed by an organized group motivated by political and ideological hatred»), part 1 of Article 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation («Ill-treatment of civilians in the occupied territory»).

According to the investigation, in March 2022, on his orders, Marine Sabir Romanovich, who was in a combat position in the building of the Azovobschemash plant in Mariupol, opened fire on three civilians. One of them died on the spot, the others managed to survive by hiding.

Romanovich, in turn, was sentenced to 26 years in prison in February. Then it was reported that, following Svinarchuk’s order, he fired at least 10 aimed shots at the townspeople.

In addition, in May, Andrei Ignatov, the ex-commander of the same separate brigade of the AFU marines, was sentenced to 28 years in absentia. As a result of his orders, 19 residential buildings in the area of the settlement of Telmanovskoye in the DPR were damaged and destroyed by mortars. In addition, one person was killed and another was injured due to his fault.

In March, it was reported that a court in the DPR sentenced to life imprisonment a 28-year-old fighter of the Azov battalion for the murder of five civilians in Mariupol. In March 2022, he, along with other servicemen, shot a car with the inscription «children» on Arkhip Kuinzhi Street in Mariupol on orders. As a result, the man, woman and child riding in the car died on the spot.
